Dental implants replace teeth that have been lost or removed, or teeth that are irreversibly damaged by decay, fractures, serious infections or prior treatment that was very invasive.
Implants are basically artificial roots that are inserted into the patient’s bone and require implant surgery. This can be minimally invasive (with no incisions) or it can be more complex, depending on the patient’s specific conditions.
How implants are fitting depends on the type of problem and on special needs. These include regenerating bone, immediate post-extractive implants with or without immediate loading, treating toothless patients, or anchoring and stabilising removable prostheses, etc.
